Wheatland Regional Library Press Release October 01, 2004 Wheatland library board appoints Michele Fedyk as new chief executive officer and executive director The Wheatland Regional Library Board has announced the appointment of Michele Fedyk as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, effective November 01, 2004. Ms. Fedyk was formerly Head Librarian with the Weyburn Public Library in Saskatchewan where she worked closely with Board and staff on developing quality library services to meet community needs. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario. She is also experienced as a professional children’s librarian in rural Saskatchewan and as a library assistant in a large urban library system. In making the announcement, Board Chair Don Tait noted that Michele Fedyk had the experience, education and personal attributes to meet the Board’s three priority areas for developing the Wheatland library system: strong management and marketing skills; work as a team player with local boards and councils; and effective Board governance and strategic planning. “Michele Fedyk is a creative, energetic library professional. Her commitment to rural Saskatchewan and quality library services is contagious,” said Mr. Tait. The Wheatland Regional Library Board serves the residents of West-Central Saskatchewan through 44 branches and 142 municipalities covering an area the size of Nova Scotia. The Board has recently completed a comprehensive management review of the system and is undergoing the country’s largest review of library collections.
