Wheatland Regional Library Press Release November 7, 2005 Lieutenant Governor’s Libraries and Authors Centennial Tour The Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan has partnered with the Saskatchewan Library Association and the Saskatchewan Writers Guild to sponsor the Libraries and Authors Centennial Tour. The Centennial Tour will visit the Wheatland Regional Library, Biggar Branch at 2:00p.m. on November 17th , then it moves to the Rosetown Branch at 7:00p.m.. On November 18th the tour travels to Unity Branch Library at 2:00 and winds up in the Luseland Branch Library at 7:00p.m. Featured writers for this tour are: best-selling author Robert Collins from Toronto; Saskatoon’s acclaimed writer Lois Simmie, and award winning poet Bruce Rice from Regina. “Our gifted authors reflect the creativity and diversity of our people and our home,” said Her Honour Dr. Lynda Haverstock, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. “This centennial tour will give people throughout the province the opportunity to meet and celebrate the writers who tell our stories and showcases Saskatchewan libraries which are central to the culture of our communities.” Each of seven reading series will include two well-known Saskatchewan authors and one out-of-province guest author returning home for the Centenary. This project will showcase talented Saskatchewan writers as well as the vital role of libraries in our community. The Tour is assisted by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Alberta- Saskatchewan Centennial Initiative, Saskatchewan Culture, Youth and Recreation, Library and Archives Canada, and support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the League of Canadian Poets.
