Wheatland Regional Library Celebrates National Aboriginal Day!

On June 21st, the Wheatland Regional Library (WRL) will feature a new core collection of Aboriginal materials in each of its 46 rural branches throughout west-central Saskatchewan.   The collection includes a variety of fiction and non-fiction books and videos for seniors, adults, teens and children.  A large number of the materials is locally or nationally sourced.

Titles include, 500 Nations:  An Illustrated History of North American  Indians by Alvin M. Josephy Jr., Canada’s First Nations:  A History of Founding Peoples from Earliest Times by Olive Patricia Dickason, Treaty Elders of Saskatchewan by Harold Cardinal and Walter Hildebrand, Bears Make Rock Soup and Other Stories by Lise Erdich, Assiniboine Legends collected by Will Nighttraveller and Gerald Desnomie, TheSong Within My Heart by David Bouchard.   To view the entire collection, please use the WRL new online catalogue @  www.wheatlandlibrary.sk.ca or visit one of the 46 branches in the Region.

“This new Aboriginal collection is a critical piece to building a vibrant and rich collection of materials for the Wheatland Regional Library.  It will certainly continue to grow and flourish over time,” comments Library Director Michele Fedyk.

The Wheatland Regional Library is committed to building strong rural communities by serving information needs, promoting literacy, and developing a love of reading.
